3 Simple Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Profile and Articles
Don’t be stressed about growth — try these out
Each platform is a little different, but these 3 remain the same.
You will only grow up to a certain point if you never ask yourself these questions.
I looked back in about a year, and I found some principles that have not changed for gaining traffic and momentum for your profile or articles.
I’m no longer growing as much because I've slowed down on one of them.
That is just me, however, for newer accounts, it’s a new world of possibility.
Please ask yourself these questions:
How often have you been publishing within the last 2 weeks?
Have you looked at the topics or articles that did well for you each week?
Are you willing to care for others first in terms of providing thoughtful or meaningful replies/comments?
#3 is the one that I haven’t been optimizing that well.
I try not to push it as different platform has different policies, and it is best to find something you enjoy reading and find common ground in writing with a writer that you’ve already read.
I’ll break down what each question can bring you.
1 — Knowing how to measure growth
Your most recent publishing schedule is a way to tell how well you are doing based on the relative metric of overall monthly or weekly performance.
If you look at your stats, views, or any metric every day, you can tell it's moving up and down, but you can’t measure them to find points you need to improve on.
The only thing you need to keep stable is how often you publish a story.
This helps your loyal audience understand when to expect you to show up again.
You are trying to find dedicated readers because only then can you find steady growth.
Of course, this is not the only way to find growth; #2 is where scaling happens.
2 — Writing for traction or attractive topics first
Topic is the only way to break through stagnant growth.
Once you find one that works well, you should hold on to it as long as you can, but be ready to pivot once you find something that works better.
The best way to try a new topic is to spend at least 1–2 weeks writing and publishing to assess your progress and compare the results you have for different topics.
If you are not finding something that works well, then it could be that you are writing too much and not having initial traction to get your articles going.
Every topic has its own dedicated reader as well, it could also be under a publication that covers different niches.
I have to say some writers are able to do it without or less time spent in #3, yet, they spend a load of time researching topics and writing about them.
But it is the most critical one for new writers here.
3 — Find your community and your friends on the platform
Engage, but not just by talking to random people.
We are going to look for those who have a similar goal or are walking the same path as you, and talk to each other like friends.
It doesn’t have to be spending a whole lot of time on them, but each read, clap, and comment must be from your heart, of related experience or thought. If not, better not to say anything.
Trust me, every writer is looking for someone to talk to, even professional writers and editors, I've seen them with their only little 5–10 people tribe talking their own language.
It’s very important to build a reputation of who you want to surround yourself with, it is not about you or them, it's the trust and connection that can bring you more desirable readers and writers who want to be a part of something.
It’s the feeling of belonging, no matter if they are a reader or writer, we all want to be in a group that is supportive, respectful, and loving of each other's work, as long as you are connecting to their idea or words.
You have to show it first.
