Maybe it was a bad idea but when you start something you try to finish it.
But ending up writing another article instead.
Today, I read an article by Linda Caroll.
It was recommended by Medium; it happened in March 2025.
The article has given me another sense of why I was stuck on that poem for the longest time.
One reason she pointed out that hit hard was that I haven’t been reading poems for a while; that’s also why I wasn’t motivated to lift my pen.
But before that, there is also something else she mentioned that was real. Most poems on the internet are not real poetry.
Probably I’m one of them too.
I applied the same principles to a writer on any topic, but this is more than topics; it’s a form of expression.
Writing itself can fall under the umbrella of, are you a real writer?
That does sound a bit insulting, but let’s say someone uses these principles to measure the way you write and whether you are a good writer or not.
The framework would be how well you express your idea and message.
Right at this moment, it reminds me of writing tips, but this is more about how you lay your foundation rather than showing your strengths and weaknesses.
There are many examples in the article that I see can also apply to writing in general.
As writing is a form of art, because everyone could say the same thing or even try to say it, it will be different.
This reminds me of my cooking a dish, where you have two people with the same ingredients and everything else, but they end up making two completely different meals and tastes.
That taste is the same sense writing that converts more than just style. It’s the flow and your understanding of what is important to the reader and what you are thinking.
Sometimes, I don’t like to write long paragraphs because it will show my weakness of not being able to put together an idea or possibly repeating myself for no reason.
I often do not remember what I just wrote, but the feeling and tension are there, and that is what keeps my words flowing.
If writing itself feels like rocket science, then poetry to me is like a nuclear bomb. I’m not sure which one is harder, but you get the idea.
I write to capture my thoughts, and hopefully, I can send the message of my imagination to you.
As for poetry, it’s like sending a coded word during a war time, but instead of hiding the message, the poem should be hiding the meanings to those who read and want to feel it.
But at the end of the day, good writing or poems do come from reading great writing.
As poetry is not my aveuve, I’m just borrowing it to let the reader be prepared for how I express thoughts and feeling in another way.
Just so happens that everyone thinks it’s poetry, it’s far from traditional or a real poem.
If I had to give it a name, it would be my own rap song.
The meaning in each self-expression is subjective to who is writing to whom.
Even though we are new to writing or poetry, it also gives us an idea of how far and wide we can go with writing.
And that itself, you should keep writing and a tool whenever you need it because you will.
Thanks for Reading
