Bin

That is so awesome! It shows your personal rapport and goodwill with your readers and followers, which is something many of us struggle with. It's good to have a good community here as well. I stopped posting on Substack because most people only DMed me garbage, and with free content, nobody values it. I will look for subscription-based articles and publications here.

Change is not always easy, but we've to adapt. You've adapted so effortlessly. 💫🤍

Thanks for reading it and the encouragement because you might be the only few that will be reading this.

I try to stay positive even though I know that it won't make a difference in the numbers.

The many reasons I didn't go back to X(Twitter) because I got a dozen DMs waiting for me before I wrote anything.

I know it will be quite similar anywhere but I hope I can bring a little different experience.

Your feedback is also very valuable not just for me but for anyone who is reading.

I'm wondering if you have subscribed to any paid one and for what reason, interest in the topic or the author?

I have subscribed to some authors, only to realise they sit on some pedestal, and I don't want them to step on my head when they get down. Hahaha

Here is the hotty-totty approach, which really made me feel inclusive. I am yet to find the right accounts, and maybe I can take your lead. I do follow Mr Robert Ralph, but honestly, I haven't engaged with him here either.

I’m here to see what can I make of this platform as it does feel a lot different from other places.

But I know as you mention reader are looking for something to read and hopefully stick with if it is worthwhile.

I do think it is much harder to win a loyal reader as most users are side hustler or looking something specific.

Niching down might be an option yet I’m not expert on anything so I will remain broad.

Wohoooo, Bin.

That’s incredible.

Gaining 300 subs in just 2 days is seriously impressive.

Keep posting these kinds of updates.

They’re super motivating for newbies like me.

Can’t wait to see more of your success.

Thanks for sharing.

I did note that I imported 290s of them, it does help a bit. But growing them naturally would be even better.

I like both communities. The issue with Substack is that I didn't have much time to explore it. As of right now, I'm not in my comfort zone on either site.

I do see the difference in both platform, but I think if you have a niche to write about keep it here may be better than medium.

And use medium as an outlet to show case some of your better or more suitable work there.

Sorry, but your headline is misleading - you didn't get them; you imported them ;).

I don't know if you are in that group of people, and I hope I'm wrong, but I can recognise the pattern of many "look how fast I grow" posts:

- say unbelievable clickbait "fact"

- get people to see and like

- using that as a case study

- continue writing about your success and start selling a course on how to succeed on Substack (or Medium, or Linkedin...)

Again, this is nothing personal. I just believe in more sustainable growth outside of the "meta" topics that are the focus of the majority of "How to grow your Substack/Medium."

I could cross post my Medium articles to Substack but the thing is those Medium stories are bite-size content whereas people on Substack like lengthy, in-depth pieces. So I'm just trying to post whatever I think will be appropriate for my newsletter. Even though Substack is a good way to gain recognition as you're getting now, I do miss Medium 😭
