Everytime my hope and wish is the same, to see some real growth, not the one that keeps dragging me from seeing new readership.
June, I have written one less article than in May, which was my goal to cut down on the number of articles and focus more on putting more thoughts into each article.
From the Medium stats page, you can’t tell, but from the earnings chart, you can see that my earnings were crashing by the end of week 2, and the views and reads did not drop by a lot.
That is when I decided that a lower article count was not going to help, even if I put more time into one article. The algorithm is just not getting it.
It tells me my articles are only worth living for a couple of hours, and the rest will depend on whether anyone remembers me or misses me for some reason.
So far, so good, at least some people think of me when they open the Medium app. Highly appreciated.
How much did I make per day?

It was over a good month, even though my earnings are trending downwards, but being able to reach readers is far more enjoyable than seeing how many more pennies I earned.
July’s earnings are a bit better, and I know most new accounts are still interested in knowing how much others earn or whatnot.
It’s not just a motivation, but a confirmation that the reader is reading your article longer, which is true when I look at the lower-earning period.
Where the comments were not as long or thoughtful as now, of course, it’s probably just me writing some nonsense that no one resonates.
It does happen a lot of times, as some readers or harder to open up and comment about what they just read.
A reminder that the suspension period is still active until the payout is sent.
The most common ones we see are for the following reasons.
AI-generated content
Engagement ring/farming (overdoing it may count too)
Medium meta article behind paywall
3rd-party external links, or it has to be disclosed
Being more active on Medium
When it comes to reviewing and publishing articles, I’m probably among the more active side editors.
I slow down a bit on Substack, because I want to give this thing another hard try.
I don’t mind daydreaming one more time at 3 AM.
Done that all this year, why not continue?
Besides, in the early part of the month, you see that my earnings have spiked up and down. Followed by somewhat stable $5–7 a day earnings for a couple of months.
Right around the day I opened a new publication, the earnings started to improve a bit.
However, this is mostly do to the early growth and articles about the publication, which generally get more readers from the writers that cause these mini improvements.
I’ll keep going until I can’t.

I’m not doing well on medium but perhaps I am also much less active - it’s like a viscous cycle - the demotivation.
Thank you so much for sharing these metrics, Bin. How would you evaluate your earnings per time spent ratio though?
