Medium Stats and Earnings Comeback Were Almost Epic For May 2026
And my new account (second account) magically hit over $10 earnings

Probably, same old, same old.
Hi, this will be a quick update on my May 2026 stats and earnings.
2.9K/8.7K = 33% read ratio, either something is wrong with my articles/account, or we’re being flooded with bots on Medium, maybe.
I only published 7 articles in May, and most of them received over 100 reads, which is not bad for my account, since I don’t really do much engagement nowadays.
I just sit and publish articles in our publications.
Top Performing Articles
Let’s look into some of the top earners, where you can see, we’ll we can’t really see much besides one article has about half the amount of reads but earns a lot more than the other one.
Maybe featuring the article was not a good idea or bad for earnings, since it shows articles to more random followers, and if it does not go viral, then it might actually hurt the earnings because either it will get views with no reads and readers that just barely stay for about 30 seconds or so.
Worst Performing Articles
I don’t have to introduce much here, and I’m sure many can relate to stats and earnings like this one. This is why I almost always stop writing anything related because it just doesn’t distribute for this account.
Not much else to say here, so let’s jump right into the earnings.
My Monthly Earnings
You can tell that my earnings have been dipping slowly, as I hit a low point in April 2026.
Could this be the turning point?
While I’m not going to publish more because of seeing earnings slightly improve, as it was not totally consistent, where 1–2 articles received 5–8 cents a read, and most of the other articles are still seeing 1–3 cents a read.
And not to mention that $16.59 of the earnings came from “Member growth earnings”, these are earnings from readers that decided to sign up for Medium membership through any one of my paywalled stories.
Earnings per read are going up a bit for me, even though this is my third-lowest read month of all time.
Not expecting much, but I do hope to see more improvements as I’m also preparing the publications for the new Editor Partner Program for July.
Hopefully, I can get at least one publication in that program…
New account (second account) created in mid-2025
Something randomly hit this account before I realized it.
1 read = $5+ on May 8.
I check my new account a few times a week to see if it’s still alive.
That account has been making a few cents a month for the past couple of months, and one day I randomly saw a $5+ earnings on an older article that I published back in late 2025. (or else, it would probably not make over $10 even when that account’s yearly membership expires)
I have heard this happened to a few writers with older articles, but I never thought this newer account would see the same thing happen.
It actually didn’t move for a week, and then all of a sudden started to get a few more reads.
If only this account could see something like this happen. Just wishful thinking…
