There's a lot of content on Medium I don't want to read, so I don't. This is a pretty ridiculous move on their end and clearly another scheme to cut costs and also try to hide bad PR

It's really the most the most powerful decision they have ever put into perspective, because before many people were writing about medium and it's hacks, including new writers who don't even know anything about medium and that was bait.

Now that these kind of stories will no longer be paywalled, we will start seeing more authentic posts in different noches rather than being spammed with medium only type of posts.

I didn't receive any mail🤔

I have searched many times-primary, promotion, social, spam but there is no such mail.

I have checked my account settings but everything looks fine.

Yes, some say they did not receive the email, it could be a targeted thing, which means this email is mainly for those that have written more of meta like articles.

But just a guess.

Thanks, Bin. I am no longer excited about writing on Medium. I probably will post occasionally, but I will not worry about making money.

I hope to find more of your stories here — Medium only rarely distributes them to me.

I got the email, too. I was wondering if I had to remove the past meta stories. I guess I will remove them from the paywall. I liked this email. It was the most straight forward one.

I think they didn't say you need to remove older articles.

But the one in March will be reviews if you do post meta articles.

Does this strategy belong to a sort of "cancel culture" massively applied on the web? Do we have to expect this from "other" platforms sooner or later?

I haven't received anything since I believe I've been already punished with invisibility!

Yes, some content or writers I'll never see.

The thing is, how do they limit the visibility of specific content? Do they target words like "Medium" associated with specific negative terms or co-occurrences? Have they established that certain topics should not be shown? I have noticed a huge worsening in the formatting of titles, subtitles, and use of clickbait but this has not led to a penalty, on the contrary!

I saw the email yesterday. You were the first writer to come to mind since your niche is mainly about Medium.

What do you plan on doing next?

A lot to think about, very few things I need to do for now.

My question would be how to leverage the traffic.

The staff are already removing their own meta articles.

Do they have any writers left? Seems odd to remove any story from that site.

I guess it will start with the staff pretending to care.
