Thank You Dan Koe — My Role Model is Here on Medium
And the new boom on Medium is about to begin
I could be wrong, he could be here to share some content and promotion his book or Kortex but whatever may be, at this point he just need to continue to show up here the wheel will turn by itself.
I think the hardest thing to do is to convince a writer to come to Medium to earn a few dollars per article or even worse now that it’s a few penny per read.
However, that is because you and I, or even Tony, are not Dan.
If Dan says Medium is a good place to start as a new writer on Twitter (X) or YouTube, guess what will happen?
New accounts opening day in and out.
Well, his content is here.
Dan actually affected me the most to start writing publicly online.
I started both Twitter and Medium on the same day, I thought promoting my Medium article on Twitter was a good idea, but I didn’t know how Medium works or I can say I’m not that influencer that can just share some thoughts and get hundreds or thousands of views.
It was my biggest mistake but it taught me where I need to focus and put all my attention to one.
I was looking to do some practice with writing and make some friends along the way for a month I decided to stop Twitter and put all my eggs on Medium.
I think I got lucky because the next day I posted my first about my experience on Medium, I read Carl Jeffers’s article, his first 2-week progress on Medium.
It was a normal stats article and how much he grew, which is why it was a hit to many that had it go viral for me to see it in the first place.
The next day I wrote my base on that format and it was a hit a couple of days later my most viral article was born, that is how most people noticed me.
As of now most would know me as the creator of Write A Catalysis publication, I have to say you are missing out and there are a lot of things that happen or are more valuable than just knowing where I am now.
The Turning Point
From the start of meeting Dan’s video on Youtube during mid-October to the viral article in late December 2023 took 2 months.
I watched about 20 videos from Dan and I soon understood that there is a sea of people who want to read and write even though it was video consumption.
The idea is you get information and go do something with it, that is how we learn, I remember as my younger self moving from different part-time and full-time jobs and feeling the uncertainty of what each job would bring or where I was actually going set a reminder that these experience will show me what I want and what I didn’t want any more.
Watching Dan’s video gave me the courage and hope that I never had, although I probably forgot everything that he said in the video each time I lose focus I just need to watch his video for a couple of minutes to refocus.
I even bought the keepsake version of the book “The Art of Focus”, I hope my son doesn’t destroy it one day while I’m not at home because I haven’t read it yet, it’s been about a year now.
I haven’t been watching anything for the past year so my mind is pretty blank when it comes to what is the latest trend or the new most influential person or writer.
On Twitter, Dan did give a like on my comment when I said, “Kortex is the backbone of the creator economy”, maybe I worded it differently but that like is enough for me to move on chasing attention.
It is pretty hard to get a busy person's attention but there are always ways to do it.
Why does this matter to existing Medium writers?
Medium biggest growth factor is here but also the greatest challenge with supporting new writers is here as well.
The competition is about to begin as more and more people are noticing Medium due to larger influencers joining and their audience will follow wherever they go.
Recently many have moved to Substack and even some large accounts from TikTok moved over there as well.
Yet, at the same time, we see large accounts lose traction or feel that Medium is not a good place to continue their writing for whatever reason.
I think most of them are not well-operated enough to meet the real potential of Medium.
You can think of Eve or Tim as big accounts that are either losing traction or stopped their writing on Medium. Even Zulie has become an employee of Medium.
Dan is the right person to show up at the right time. His account has been posting longer form content since April 2024 with his non-member account.
Then stopped and continued posting since November 2024 on his member account, he or his team stopped in December and resumed in January 2025.
And has been posting consistently ever since.
I’m not sure why he’s here now when everyone is demotivated and leaving left and right. Can’t you see his vision and timing right there?
I think he’ll be the biggest and most relevant influencer here in 2025, even more than Obama if his team tries.
We know that over time he’ll bring extreme amounts of new traffic and members in, so you and I as an existing writer can either make it happen or set yourself as leading members that are welcoming these newcomers.
This is a long-term yearly plan, don’t expect anything to happen the next day or even a month by it’s happening already.
Some day Medium is the YouTube for writers, maybe it used to be but if anyone would make it streamlined, I would say it can only be Dan.
This is just the beginning as Dan is not just here to produce a couple of content. I think the content that he already produces is enough to give him another year without writing anything new and will still cover his daily long-form 8-minute + articles. Some even go over 30 minutes.
Dan started his Substack account 6 months ago, that might be his next target but for now, he’s sharing more of his content on Medium.
The competition is on, I hope the pay rate can at least stay about the same.
Time to write and focus on what is about to come.
Thanks for Reading

Medium | I moved my Gumroad newsletter to Substack but I’m looking to do something else with it.
This story was originally published on [Medium] and is cross-posted here for a wider audience.
Do you want to support me with $1,2,3,4, or $5 a month? (take it as a donation)
Your support is my honor, it does motivate me to work harder.
$1 per month ($1 a month means a lot because I’m getting a penny on Medium)
$2 per month (2 double the support)
$3 per month (3 ways to support me, Like, Comment, or Subscribe)
$4 per month (4 you can skip because going 5 wouldn’t hurt)
$5 per month (if you paid full price you are at the top of my world)
Your support is always appreciated.
Dan Koe Content creation is just one aspect; it's primarily a strategy to attract customers to the business. This is an excellent way to acquire customers at no cost.
