The Best Platform To Write and Grow In 2025
3 reasons you need to grow on this one platform (you are on it)
Audience reach, personalize community, and a lot of money to be made.
I once heard a top writer said I’m dying on Medium but flying on Substack. Robin Wilding.
She actually said, “I’m Killing It On Substack — And Dying On Medium.”
In my mind, I thought, how could that be, and why did they say that?
I went over and looked at their Substack and immediately saw the difference in traffic and engagement on their article.
From experience, I can say that now, but at the time, I couldn’t tell, like any newcomer to a platform.
Back in mid-December, I just opened Substack. I was testing the water.
I have 0 followers and 0 subscribers. I thought it would take a while to get things going.
The biggest mistake I made was probably importing the 290 subscribers from Medium into Substack. (email open rate crashes due to inactive subs)
I couldn’t say I got my first 100 or 200 subs, instead, I cheer for 300 right off the bat.
Growth has a lot to do with where you are and where you want to go.
3 reasons Substack can help you grow into existence. (3 questions)
#1 — What is Substack?
I bet you can’t give an answer with one sentence.
Some say it’s a hybrid of a newsletter/blog. I say it’s more than that.
Both newsletter sites, like Kit (Convertkit), and blogs like WordPress are missing something. Even if you have both of them combined, it won’t be Substack.
It’s more about the dynamics and ecosystem.
It’s alive, to say the least.
If we put all the popular features of YouTube shorts, Instagram reels, Pinterest images, Twitter’s tweets, and Medium's ad-free platform together.
It also has some Shopify features ready to retail (market) your work.
It’s an ongoing platform that fits into the undefined.
#2— Who is really using Substack?
Know who is in the game to win it.
Most writers I met said they want to try Substack but don’t know how to get about. That itself says a lot about the one that is already on there.
They are confident in their work, or they want to break out of traditional social media. The dopamine hit is different here.
When you see someone succeed there, you think, “How can I do it too?”
The platform's growth and potential exceed users' expectations.
That is when you know the community is booming instead of contracting.
When the general sentiment is good, things tend to do well fairly quickly.
And Substack has a ton of growth from all angles.
#3 — What are you trying to achieve on Substack?
Now you know that Substack is more of what you want to do with it.
If you are good at any form of art, you should try sharing it. People there are hungry for content, and make sure to be well-organized on what niche you are falling into.
They like to see you and your point of view on the topic that matters to you. It’s still personal, but scaling is not an issue.
Although I’m still a newcomer there, I have seen almost all kinds of growth strategies.
Here are some features for growth.
Growing with notes with images or quotes from the internet. Some never even posted a single article.
Growing by posting an article is still doable, but for the best result, it is best to have some notes for new visibility.
The chat room is best used for connection to your loyal audience and those who want to know more about you and your community.
DM with 1 on 1 for more personal questions or concerns.
Creating an offer for your newsletter subscription.
There are many other ways you can grow on Substack, like recommendations from others and restacking notes, and lines from articles.
No other platforms are growing as fast.
Many top writers are quietly moving and focusing on Substack.
Did you ever wonder why?

I know you don’t like to leave comments, but it does help me grow, thanks.
Substack is very amazing with tools and tools that a creator can capitalize on and you don't see that on medium neither do you see that on other social platforms.
Thanks, Bin. It looks like I made the right move.
