Driving traffic to your product or websites has never been easier.
I launched my new digital product 24 hours ago, and it has 13 visitors already.
If you have been thinking about where you should launch your e-book or short lessons, then Gumroad is your best bet.
Some might even think of Amazon KDP or Etsy. They both are massive but come with a cost, and if you are new and trying to start with zero cost, then Gumroad is for you.
Gumroad charges a simple 10% flat fee per transaction for sales made on its website, plus applicable sales tax (credit card processing fees) and no other hidden fees.
You do have to drive your own traffic.
This is not a con, as if you are selling something that you created, then you should have some kind of social presence already, unless you are selling something you do not practice.
Let me show you how you can get organic traffic to your Gumroad product.
Here’s how you can drive traffic to Gumroad
Medium
Medium has millions of readers, and many of them are looking to learn something or become a writer.
One of the more popular niches is making money online through writing or selling digital products.
Even if you’re not within these niches, there is still a lot of traffic to these niches:
Health
Techology
Finance
Non-fiction
Mindset
Crypto
AI
Each category has its preference for length and details.
Overall, I find that the most attractive content form is by far shorter articles.
It keeps the reader reading, and most importantly, it drives in more traffic if your article is:
Headlines that deliver
Well-formatted article
Straight to the point
Answer to questions
Actionable tips/steps
Relevant tags/topics
On Medium, readers are more responsive, almost like they want to say something before they even finish the article.
If you are writing something that is trending or uncommon opinions, then you should share more of it there. But keep it short and sweet.
You need to article to travel far so that more people can see your offer.
Another way to drive in traffic
However, I found out after reading many Substack articles that are also published by other creators that does Medium, their longer articles are doing well.
Readers on Substack do have people who love short content as well, but more of them use or read from notes for engagement purposes.
Driving traffic to Gumroad with Substack
Substack
Best known for its subscription model, but did you know there are a lot of ways you can interact with your audience there?
You can use these 3 features to interact with your audience:
Notes for sharing instant thoughts or keeping in touch with communities.
Write a post(article) that is directly emailed to your subscribers. It can contain all kinds of offers.
Public or private chat room for conversation and discussion on topics and trends.
Substack has more than the tools you need to reach your loyal readers, and it’s free too.
Notes or posts, both can go viral, and when they do, you'd better have your offer ready for download.
Engagement tips to boost traffic on your content
For the best result, combine notes and post on Substack.
You use a note as a poster to get more views on you, your profile, and your content.
And your post is where you give in-depth topics related to your offer or what you are trying to share/teach.
Everything comes in a circle, and audiences are everywhere ready to look at your content without you asking for anything, making a few friends would help you get a head start as well as be more long-lasting.
What do you have to lose?
It’s already mid-2025, even a latecomer like me, I'm starting a digital product, if you are still waiting, I suggest you get started and see what happens first.
Waiting without a product is not waiting, it’s wasting time and opportunities.
I made my first sale last week.
